We were cleaning out our garage when the Omans stopped by… Violet, whom we love, and Eric, who we tolerate because he is married to Violet. We took a couple pictures of Carter enjoying Violet and looking forward to getting his motorcycle license.

100,000 miles on the Odometer

My beloved WRX just posted the big 1-0-0-0-0-0 on the odometer. I feel old. I still love her. We have great times autocrossing and ice racing, but now she just takes me to work… although I still really enjoy her. Here’s to another 100,000.

Moonlight Paddle

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

On Saturday night, underneath the full moon, the Kayak club organized a paddle around the small lake. What was really nice is that we got to use a 2 person kayak so Kathy could join and did not have to worry about straining herself. It was a very unique and fun experience that we are both glad we could share. Not to mention that Eric and Pearson made some great glow-in-the-dark T-shirts to commemorate the event. It was very memorable and a ton of fun. Obviously getting good pictures is difficult but here are a couple.

Sandbagging

Friday, June 27th, 2008

We have been lucky the flooding of the Mississipi has not affected us at all. On the otherhand, my commute takes me through the floodplain where I see underwater sports fields and a boat/RV storage center. Just as I was driving by there on Wednesday NPR announced an urgent need for volunteer sandbaggers in the area. Unfortunately, it took me over 1/2 hour to find the information on how to volunteer. On the plus side, I spent my evening helping with some other very nice people.
