The St. Louis Zoo decorates for Halloween and opens up late. Carter begged us to go so we obliged. He seemed to really enjoy walking around and playing on the playground. He was very brave and enjoyed all the displays. Here are the pictures.

Boo! at the Zoo
Monday, October 19th, 2009Zoo visit & SLSO concert in the Park
Thursday, September 17th, 2009
While daddy was hard at work, mommy took Carter to the zoo. I have heard that Carter had a great time and got over his fear of the train in the tunnels. Afterwards, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra gave a beautiful free concert on Art Hill in Forest Park. Carter seemed slightly more amused by the grass, but I think he really enjoyed it. The beautiful night ended with a surprise display of fireworks, which Carter thoroughly enjoyed.
Grant’s Farm
Sunday, August 30th, 2009
Grant’s Farm is another uniquely St. Louis attraction. Named after its first owner, Ulysses S. Grant, the Busch family now owns it. I think the pictures describe it better than I could. Carter seemed to particularly enjoy the parrots and the baby goats. Daddy particularly enjoyed the free beer. I am sure we will be back there many times.
O’Fallon Jammin’ Concert
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

We went to see the band Plastic at the O’Fallon public concert series. Again, Trish and Jessica joined us. The band had a lead singer change, and was not exactly what we remembered. However, it was still a perfect night and Carter seemed to have a blast, so we all enjoyed the evening together.
Yet Another Zoo Visit
Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Like all good zoo visits, we first started our day at Bob Evans, where Carter showed off his skills as a busboy. Then, we were off to the zoo. It was an exciting day for many reasons. We joined the zoo, because we enjoy it so much. Carter really started responding to the animals, he seemed to particularly enjoy the zebras and the hippos. He also went on his first train ride. The tunnels were a little scary, but overall he very much enjoyed it. He also wanted to show off that he could drink from a water bottle. Overall, it was a great day. The pictures are up here.
Festival of the Little Hills

Back on August 9th we took Carter to the St. Louis Science Center. It was a very impressive museum, and I think Carter really enjoyed it. See for yourself!
Brian & Carolyn Visit
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009
![]()
Our friends Brian & Carolyn were moving from North Carolina to Oregon, and we were lucky enough to spend a couple days with them as they stopped by St. Louis. I was starting work and did not get to enjoy their company as much as Carter and Kathy did, but it was still a very nice visit. It included Carter’s first visit to a Hibachi and his first visit to the Missouri Botanical Garden. Enjoy the pictures.

Goodbye XXIX, I am thirty years old (why, what were you thinking?) I had a wonderful Birthday weekend, and I put up a gallery cataloging my special day. We started out with Kathy giving me a nice card and present. You already know where we went to breakfast. Barkley gave me a special Birthday gift, running away to celebrate my birthday. After I dragged him back home we took Carter for his first kayak ride! Special thanks to Eric for snapping some pictures. After that we went to the zoo as a family. To finish it off, we went to the Boat House in Forest Park for dinner. It was a perfect day. However, Kathy decided to throw me a party, so Sunday we had a relaxed Pirate Party with my friends in St. Louis.
