Carter Can Sit Himself Up!

Carter no longer needs his parents to help sit him up. As you can see, he has really mastered that himself now and is doing it regularly. He first did it yesterday but, unlike most new things, he can do it repeatedly right away.

Carter Crawls Forward

The milestones are sure flying by… here you can see Carter making forward progress towards a goal for the first time! He is lying down between each movement forward but all the elements are there for him to crawl. Now we are staring at the scary prospect of beginning to baby-proof the house… but well worth it.

Goodbye XXIX, I am thirty years old (why, what were you thinking?) I had a wonderful Birthday weekend, and I put up a gallery cataloging my special day. We started out with Kathy giving me a nice card and present. You already know where we went to breakfast. Barkley gave me a special Birthday gift, running away to celebrate my birthday. After I dragged him back home we took Carter for his first kayak ride! Special thanks to Eric for snapping some pictures. After that we went to the zoo as a family. To finish it off, we went to the Boat House in Forest Park for dinner. It was a perfect day. However, Kathy decided to throw me a party, so Sunday we had a relaxed Pirate Party with my friends in St. Louis.

Carter is on Solid Foods!

After watching Carter watch us eat for nearly a month, it was time for him to try the real deal. We fed him a carrot mush with rice cereal added, and he seemed to enjoy it. It was very funny watching him open his mouth asking for more and then making a very disgusted face while trying to swallow and digest the food. He has gotten better and better at eating (he no longer makes the disgusted face) and has been steadily eating more and more. We even have a gallery up of his first and second day eating.

Sailing season is almost upon us. There was some minor fiberglass work to be done to get the boats in good condition for the season, so we all got together. I can’t really claim to have helped much, but Carter did a great job providing moral support!
